Cardology is the esoteric science of the playing cards — a system its teachers trace to ancient mystery traditions, where the 52-card deck was kept as a sacred book of time: 52 cards for the weeks of the year, four suits for the seasons, thirteen ranks for the weeks of each season, and two colors for the divine masculine and divine feminine. Long guarded in occult and astrological circles and carried into the modern era through works like Olney Richmond's Mystic Test Book and Robert Lee Camp's Cards of Destiny, it reads a person's birth card as a symbol of their soul's purpose, mapped through yearly and 52-day cycles. Today it is used for self-discovery, relationship insight, timing, and teaching — a practical, everyday oracle. And as we move into the Age of Aquarius, an era said to favor shared knowledge, awakening, and community over gatekept wisdom, Cardology finds a natural home: a once-hidden system, now open to anyone curious enough to pick up a deck.
Cardology maps a standard 52-card deck to the calendar — 52 weeks, 4 seasons, 12 months, 7-year cycles. Your birth date has a card. Your year has a story. This is where you learn to read it.
✎ start with your birth card — it's the fun part
Type a name, a word, or a city — every letter carries a solar value, and capitals count differently from lowercase. The calculator works it through and hands you the card it lands on.
Mind your capitals — a capital letter and its lowercase twin carry different values, so “Paris” and “paris” land on different cards.
✎ try your own name, or the city you call home
Type a name, word or city and its card will appear here.
Two little field notes, pinned up fresh every day: what's happening astrologically, and which planet rules the current hour — both figured for Eastern Time.

How it works: daylight (sunrise → sunset) is divided into 12 equal hours and the night into 12 more, so each hour stretches and shrinks with the seasons. Rulers follow the Chaldean order — Saturn → Jupiter → Mars → Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon — starting with the day's ruler at sunrise. Sunrise and sunset are figured for New York City, the Eastern Time reference point for this widget, and times follow Eastern Time as observed there (EST in winter, EDT in summer).
One page a day, centred on the cards. Each morning's prompts are woven from your Card for Today and what's happening in the sky — the Sun and Moon signs, the Moon phase, the day's ruler, and whether Mercury is retrograde — so the writing always meets you where the day actually is.
